We All Need Jesus

A devotion by Jim Pike–

Hello Piedmont Men of Steel:

I volunteered to write the March monthly devotional for the website, and I want to open with this prayer:

Father God please help me to say what you want me to say and nothing else, may it all point to your son Jesus, I pray that it will glorify You and cause us to want to know You more, praise You more and worship You more. Amen.

We are living in tough times. Covid has impacted or altered all our lives in one way or another. Same sex marriage and abortion are legal. There are riots and protests in the street. Unemployment is high. People have hatred for people that haven’t even met. People say the Bible is full of hate and that they can reach heaven by being a good person.  It seems that some have lost sight of the truth.

Pontius Pilate said to Jesus “what is truth”? (John 18:38)

Here is the truth:

God is the maker of us all.

Proverbs 22:2

New International Version

2 Rich and poor have this in common:
The Lord is the Maker of them all.

We all have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God.

Romans 3:23

New International Version

23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

Jesus is the only way to the Father.

John 14:6

New International Version

6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

The word of God is the truth.

2 Timothy 3:16

New International Version

16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,

As we go through our days here on earth and interact with others let us remember that love never fails and that we are not to judge others but instead are to show the love of Jesus by serving them and speaking the truth of  the word of God in love after thoughtful prayer with the guidance of the Holy Spirit. We should hold fast to the truth and not waiver in our beliefs. Love people. Hate sin.

Please take the time every day to acknowledge God and pray in the name of Jesus that He will help you not to judge others but  instead see them as He  does and to love them as He does by the leading of the Holy Spirit .  Ask Him to help you recognize the opportunities to serve others and to speak the name of Jesus. Once He helps you recognize the opportunities pray for Him to give you the exact right response and the boldness to do what it is that God wills you to do. I believe that Christians have the most joy when they are in the center of God’s will.

 Remember we all need Jesus.

To God be the Glory,

Jim Pike
