Man of God: Building Strength Through Faith in Jesus

Men of Steel 6-9-25

This evening, we started the meeting with a table discussion on Ephesians 5:15-20. Specifically, we focused on the second part of verse 18, “Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit,” and we discussed what it means to each of us to be filled with the Holy Spirit.

Ephesians 5:15-20 NLT
15. So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise. 16. Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days. 17. Don’t act thoughtlessly, but understand what the Lord wants you to do. 18. Don’t be drunk with wine, because that will ruin your life. Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit, 19. singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs among yourselves, and making music to the Lord in your hearts. 20. And give thanks for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Pastor Greg King started a new class of New Beginners’ with a group of men eager to deepen their faith and their connection in fellowship with Men of Steel. At the completion of the class, the men will be given the opportunity to share their testimony with the rest of the men and talk about how they learned and grew through pursuing the Word in the class.

The message this evening was delivered by Will Adams. The message was centered around finding strength through surrender to God and His will, proving strength through integrity and character, showing strength through service to God and to others, self-discipline through prayer and studying the Word, and building and refining strength through enduring trails in the name of your faith in Jesus.

18. Delilah realized he had finally told her the truth, so she sent for the Philistine rulers. “Come back one more time,” she said, “for he has finally told me his secret.” So the Philistine rulers returned with the money in their hands. 19. Delilah lulled Samson to sleep with his head in her lap, and then she called in a man to shave off the seven locks of his hair. In this way she began to bring him down, and his strength left him.
20. Then she cried out, “Samson! The Philistines have come to capture you!”
When he woke up, he thought, “I will do as before and shake myself free.” But he didn’t realize the Lord had left him.

I have given you an example to follow. Do as I have done to you. 16. I tell you the truth, slaves are not greater than their master. They do it to win a prize that will fade away, but we do it for an eternal prize. 26. So I run with purpose in every step. I am not just shadowboxing. 27.
